School Closings
We welcome back Scott Paeth, Associate Professor of Religious Studies at DePaul University in Chicago. Scott always has a lot to say and it is usually said very well, so we are thrilled to have him back.
Riliage –
Both Jonathan and Scott went to the historic Andover Newton Theological School for their masters degree/seminary experience. Sadly, Andover is going to be selling its campus and moving to be a part of another school (maybe Yale… or maybe DeVry…) Scott and Jonathan ruminate about the direction of theological education and individual institutions.
Jonathan then brings in a curve with his rant about religious liberty and school closings. He was asked to help advocate for religious days off for Jews and Christians, and being the annoying Baptist that he is, he declined because, “what about all those other religions.” Ugh.
Scripture
Romans 13:1-7 – do what is good and right and pay your taxes… unless it would not be convenient to do so? Paul does not put that part in there.
Watcha’ Into
Scott is into the game Betrayal at the House on the Hill which is a fun and kinda dark murder mystery for gamers. Just don’t do it in real life!
Jonathan is once again into the “Austin 100” through All Songs Considered – just listening to the Austin 100 is almost as good as going to South by Southwest.
