Book Reports!
Jonathan and Jerrod return for what is now a kind of tradition because they have done it once before. They both read books and like to talk about the books that they have read in attempts to sound smart.
For those who do not remember, Jerrod Hugenot is the Associate Executive Minister of the American Baptist Churches of New York State. He blogs at Preaching and Pondering and is just a basically good person.
The Deep Conversation
First, note the episode from the year before where they list the books that they wanted to read. Especially note that Jonathan did not get to read Freeman’s book Contesting Catholicity – he is far from perfect.
Now for the books that they intend to read this next year:
For Jonathan:
The Guermantes Way by Marcel Proust
The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead
Backpacking With the Saints by Sheldon Lane
For Jerrod:
American Comic Book Chronicles by TwoMorrows Publishing
The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson
The Secret History of Wonder Woman by Jill Lepore
Read books. Books are still a great way to share ideas, to transport you to a different place and have a profound experience. Books let you engage at your own pace and time and is a careful way to express ideas. Read books and more books and even more books!
