Talking Made Easy
Guest host Alex Hand and Jonathan talk about the technique, norms, and ways of having conversation. Alex is an employee at a local Rhode Island Starbucks barista as well as a student of anthropology and knows a bit about talking.
The Deep Conversation
While we may have multiple opportunities to connect with other people via social media, but that does not mean we have opportunities to have meaningful conversations. A conversation, which both Jonathan and Alex believe needs to happen face-to-face has the opportunities for back and forth, interaction, and play. They both muse on the possibility that a good conversation actually makes someone a better person.
Community is founded in one way or another on communication. From light conversation to deep talks and everything in-between, all is important and necessary. Deliberate conversation, and thus deliberate relationships can offer a foundation for community and for individual identity. Talk, just not in the library.
