Luke 1:46-55 is the passage for the time. It is a song. It is a great song that Mary sings expressing her joy and hopeful anticipation with the child she carries. Part of the power of the song is found in the way that it speaks of a grand reversal of the order of humanity returning to the order of the divine. The joy of that song carries the joy that a woman expecting would have; it is a joy of a promise and a hope. Can we carry that same kind of joy and hope each Advent season as we anticipate singing with Mary?
